The Book of Enlightenment - A guide to a better life

Sunday 18th October 1936

When one pauses to realise and to recognise the facts that are as yet unknown to thy material kind that ye who have dwelt before upon the spheres of the material plane are better fitted to realise and understand many things that thou hast failed to understand. God is a just God but an exacting God a determined God determined that thou and thine shall progress in spite of thy lack or desire to progress. As I gaze upon thy material plane that which is my privilege to understand I realise this creates many quandaries within the minds of those who fail to understand. I will endeavour to lift the veil that darkens thine eyes so that thou may also recognise and realise the justice of the pain and the trials that thou and thine are wont to enjoy.

Ye who have lived before a material existence realising not that thy body thy material is but a mass a source of supply generating the force that is necessary for the development and the progress of thy personal spiritual soul. It is necessary for the moment that thou dost realise that which thou can see can touch and heareth is not as thou would have it be thy self, but is the protecting soil of thy soul a soil that will wither and die but thy soul remains to fulfil the desires of God. Ye who are blessed with an unequal share of material possessions are privileged to enjoy that which thou dost now possess. Ye who possesseth not have in the past enjoyed a similar condition of material joys but recognise the justness and equal distribution of the joys and sorrows of material progression for ye who cry in pain are but suffering to learn that which in the past thou hast failed to learn when thou didst dwell upon the material many many years ago and thou were blessed with the health and strength that God didst to ye supply thou then did fail to pause and realise the necessity of sharing thy worldly goods with thy material brother for thou did not in thy luxurious position desire to mar thine own personal enjoyment. Thus at the time when Gods Will be done thou dost again have a material existence but stripped of thy worldly goods are privileged to enjoy or not the suffering of those that in the past thy selfishness and greed failed to realise. 'Tis now thy privilege to gaze upon those more fortunate than thee and to envy those that are as ye were once privileged to be but it is a lesson that thou must endure and ye who possess that which brings the pleasures and joys of thy present existence fail not to realise that those who now suffer in thy material surroundings in some previous existence possessed the wealth and material possessions that ye now enjoy and do fail to understand the necessity of brotherly love a love for the neighbour rich or poor is thy brother in the cause of development and evolution of all material kind.

When one better understands it is easily recognised why and how a medium can register that which is not but is to be for when one becomes sensitive to the realisation of the controlling forces of the brotherly love of a kindred soul that is ever assisting governing endeavouring to guide and advise thine own spiritual soul thou canst then better understand some of the many mysteries that I and the Powers of the Forces of the Sphere that I am privileged to represent understand. Thou art privileged as is my privilege to look back over the existences of the past and to better understand the justices of God and the lessons that thou in the future will be called upon to learn complying with the desires of God for thy progression thou wouldst then better understand the possibility of a summary of the conditions that is wont to surround thy material existence of the future.

It is evident that the words that have been spoken are and ever will be understood in accordance with the progression and ability to understand in the Spheres akin to thine own acceptance but as a lesson let us endeavour to understand and to realise that the material has existed in the past thyself as the governing influence that controlled and governed the activities supply or body in thy machine age. Perhaps it would better to penetrate thy dormant mind were I and the Powers I represent called thy flesh the flesh that thou had wont to realise as Self a machine an instrument a source of energy thy Soul is the operative force governing and controlling that machine as thou in the past didst govern and control a kindred machine wisely or unwisely yet thy soul or spiritual self wouldst dwell in the material schools of realisation learning and progression must then recognise how easy for those who understand thy position the present and the past the past of thousands of years of thy existence and knowing of thy omissions and thy acceptance and that which is to be and will be in accordance with the desires of God. It is easily understood when one dost recognise the Will of God. Were ye who did in the past enjoy all that thou didst enjoy and were immune from the sufferings of thy neighbour but who in thy selfishness and greed paused not to share the joys with thy unfortunate brother is it not fitting that in thy present existence that thou shouldst bear the pain and the sufferings that was the sufferings of those who in thy greed and selfishness didst fail in thy duty of brotherly love to ease the pain of unequal distribution of that which was then thine.

Many similar conditions that to you is but a lesson for those who understand it is easily recognised step by step each lesson each agony each joy that lessons of the future will be then to endure. Thus those who cry in pain and agony of the present who endure starvation and poverty art thou sure that in the past when wealth and health was thine didst thou pause in thy joys to ease the burden of those that did suffer as thou suffer now. Let this lesson that is thy privilege to endure be a lesson of progression. Cry not "Oh Lord ease my agony and my pain" 'tis better to cry "Oh Lord the time has come when I better understand the reason of the pain I bear permit me to die that I may be privileged to help those and guide those who like myself failed to understand". Ye who are present are privileged to possess that which in the past was not thine to possess. Pause in thy pleasures to realise that those in agony omitted to share as thou art wont to make a similar mistake.

The body is the soil of self. Thy self has enjoyed the possession of many material bodies as dost the flowers cut from the gardens of thy material spheres. The flower is self and the soil is the material. Soul is the flower, body is the soil.

Thou existeth and ever did exist in the past without the present material flesh.
